Privacy notice
Last updated:
GeoPeaks lets you explore real ski areas in 3D in your web browser. You do not need an account to play, and we do not set cookies. This notice explains what information is involved when you visit our website or play, who receives it, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
GeoPeaks is operated by Eduardo M. (GeoPeaks), an individual based in Brazil and responsible for the processing described in this notice. Contact: contact@geopeaks.com. Additional identification details may be provided upon a legitimate request.
What we process and why
Page visits. On our website and on the game's page we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, pages viewed, the referring site and the approximate country. It does not use cookies and is not used to identify individual visitors. It is not loaded if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
Game usage measurements. While you play, the game sends small batches of events so we can understand performance and improve it: session start (how you arrived, the language, desktop or touch), runs started and finished (time rounded and medal), falls (reason and a speed range), the area loaded, time played in an area, resort, time-of-day and language changes, use of the message form (opened, sent, type), graphics mode and a frame-rate range, searches inside the game (as a category), and error types. Most events include the area you are playing. Events carry no name, account, advertising identifier, free text or persistent identifier, and no position on the map. Our server adds the approximate country. Measurements are kept for up to 3 months. They are designed not to identify you; whether they count as anonymous data depends on the circumstances, so we treat them with care and rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the game. You can turn them off in Settings or in About · Privacy, and the game does not send them if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
Messages you send in the game ("Talk to us"). If you use the form, we receive your message, its category (bug, resort request, suggestion, contact), the subject or resort name you type, the dates it was written and received and, for bug reports, an optional image of the 3D game view (it does not capture the rest of your screen) and a technical diagnostic: game version, resort and run, position in the area, time of day and mode, graphics mode and frame rate, browser and system (family and major version), screen and window size, recent game errors, the language and the approximate country. Your email is optional and used only to reply. Messages are stored in a database hosted by Cloudflare in the European Union and deleted within 90 days; Cloudflare's recovery feature may keep a deleted message for up to 30 more days. Our internal reports contain only counts, never the text of messages. Please avoid including sensitive information or other people's personal data. We use this to handle your request and fix problems, based on your request and our legitimate interest.
Map imagery for the globe. When you use the 3D globe in the game, your browser downloads satellite imagery and elevation data directly from EOX IT Services (Austria), NASA GIBS (United States) and Amazon Web Services (United States). These providers receive your IP address, browser information, our site address and which map tiles are being requested (the area you are looking at), and process this under their own terms.
Delivery and security. Our website and game are delivered through Cloudflare, which processes network information, including IP addresses, to deliver the content and protect it from abuse. When Cloudflare checks for automated traffic it may set a strictly necessary security cookie. We do not store IP addresses in our own records; to limit abuse of the form and of the measurements we use a short-lived, salted code derived from the IP that is not stored.
Emails you send us. If you write to contact@geopeaks.com, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. Our email is hosted by Google (Gmail). We delete it once it is no longer needed and in any case within 12 months, unless we must keep it longer by law or for an open request.
Our legal basis for page and game measurement, map delivery and security is our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving GeoPeaks. For messages and emails, it is handling the request you made.
Information stored on your device
The game saves information in your browser's local storage so that it works the way you left it: your settings (language, units, graphics, sound, camera, time of day, appearance), your progress and personal records (best times, the replay "ghost" of your best run, levels, medals and runs completed), the last area you opened, your choice about measurements and the times you wrote to us (to limit repeated sends). If a message cannot be sent right away, it waits on your device until it is sent or you delete it. It also keeps a local copy of the globe imagery to load faster. This information stays on your device; we do not receive it, except a message you choose to send. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data. On our website we remember only your language choice and whether you closed the language suggestion.
Who receives information
- Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, security, web analytics, game measurements, message database in the EU).
- EOX IT Services, NASA GIBS and Amazon Web Services (globe imagery).
- Google (email hosting for contact@geopeaks.com).
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising, and we do not build profiles.
Where information is processed
These providers process information in the United States, in the European Union and in other countries where they operate, under their own terms. We keep an internal record of each provider, its role and the legal mechanisms that apply.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability and to complain to a data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD; in the EU, your local authority). To exercise these rights, write to contact@geopeaks.com; we can find, export or delete a message you sent. We may ask for information to confirm the request comes from you. You can object to game measurements at any time by turning them off.
Children
GeoPeaks is not directed at children under 13. Playing does not require any registration, and we do not ask for age or date of birth. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before writing to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change and show the date of the latest version at the top.
